About Me

Thirteen things about me:

1. My full name is Kate Alice Ellen Appleby. My mum wanted to call me Alice but thought it would be difficult for a small child to say Alice Appleby, so I got it as a middle name instead!

2. I have an older brother who now lives and works in London.

3. I have a nine-year old black labrador called Barney who still thinks he is a puppy!

4. I went to the University of St Andrews where I studied Social Anthropology. I originally went to study Classical Studies but swapped to anthropology at the end of my second year.

5. I learnt to bake from my mum and I think the first thing I made was butterfly cakes! Something I still make fairly regularly when I need a cake-fix and can't be bothered to make much effort!

6. I like to bake in bare feet - I hate it when my feet are covered up, which could be a problem when working in an actual business! Customers might give me strange looks if I wandered around without shoes on!

7. I own over 100 pairs of shoes! I adore shoes almost as much as I adore baking!

8. I love Disney films! My favourite one is Beauty and the Beast, which I must have watched around 50 times! I can also recite the entire prologue - yep I am a little bit obsessed!

9. At university I trampolined - I was the club's social rep and fundraiser for two years, and left with my University Sports Colours.

10. I am a member of the Women's Institute - I did my anthropology dissertation on the WI to find out more about the organisation and ended up joining! It is actually a lot of fun and people shouldn't think it is just old ladies, knitting, and drinking tea!

11. When I was little I wanted to be a dentist because I loved the smell of the dentist's surgery! However, I am rubbish at all things science related and these days I really do hate the dentists, so it was never really going to work out!

12. I am a proper girly-girl! My favourite colour is pink and I adore any rom-com and chick-lit!

13. I am opening a coffee shop but I don't actually drink coffee! I like the smell of it but I've never been able to drink it.
